  • Identified opportunities to automate processes, eliminate inefficiencies, and increase the frequency of valuations in a $200K project. This enabled the expansion of the number of investment portfolios from 2 to 18, and moving from weekly to daily valuations, greatly improving member satisfaction.

January 2006 – May 2006
  • Led the $1.3M design and implementation of a disaster recovery system for 47 applications including real-time replication of data to colocation centres. Analyzed the client’s requirements and devised a solution based on cost-benefit alignment with corporate goals. Managed a remote team of 24 IT experts in deploying the disaster recovery solution across 12 business units.

Client:  CPAS Systems, Toronto, ON
January 2004 – October 2005
  • Managed a team of 7 in a $750K project to convert 2 pension systems with 65K+ members and $4BN under management from JEA Penfax to CPAS, including 2 years of financial history. Successfully completed the conversion on time, under budget and with zero errors. Role included testing the quality and reliability of the converted data and managing the budget, scope, risks, issues, resource requirements, and configuration of the project.

May 2005 – June 2005
  • Implemented a Microsoft Outlook Web Access platform for a large US capital investment firm for use by their staff worldwide. As a result, staff had secure, reliable access to email outside of corporate firewalls and were able to retire their aging proprietary, handheld devices. The project provided cost savings and more flexibility in how staff could manage communications regardless of location.

January 2005 – May 2005
  • Coordinated the migration of all existing Microsoft SQL 7.0, SQL 2000 and SQL 2003 databases to one of two 3-node Microsoft Server Clusters running Microsoft SQL 2003 for Russell Investments. The project provided a technology refresh as well as high availability and fault tolerant management of data allowing Russell to meet its customer's needs in a competitive market.
Client:  Internal July 2004 – January 2005
  • Performed a gap analysis between the Regina Data Center’s reporting standards and the requirements of ISACA’s ITAF standards and in response to the H1N1 threat, assessed CGI’s Regina Data in its pandemic preparedness and redundancy of personnel resources. In response to these analyses we developed internal strategies resulting in stronger client retention and a 67% reduction in the time required for independent audit engagements.

 

Systems Administrator

CUETS (Credit Union Electronic Transaction Services), Regina, Saskatchewan
  • Administered a farm of RS/6000 AIX servers to process e-commerce transactions and provide Interactive Voice Response (IVR) services for multiple call centres to one of the top 100 MasterCard franchises world-wide.
  • Planned and implemented system migrations and upgrades in a risk aversive environment. Designed and implemented programs for system monitoring, management, and enhancement. Installed and planned corporate firewalls. Analyzed and made recommendations regarding other aspects of CUETS’ corporate Intranet, Extranet, and Internet architecture.
  • Programmed applications using PERL, Java (JSP, Servlet, and EJB development), and C and C++, and analyzed TCP/IP networking and routing, and Internet related-security issues.

  • Designed and implemented a Geomatic Information System subscription update system using PERL, HTML, JavaScript and Oracle on a Solaris UNIX platform with a Netscape Enterprise Web Server for Sask Geomatics
Client: Internal July 1999-October 1999
  • Served as Webmaster, Security Auditor and DBA for GDS’ new Human Resource System. The system was developed in Microsoft Visual Interdev and implemented on NT with Microsoft IIS and SQL Server 6.5
  • Implemented High Speed Internet to all internal workstations using a Redhat Linux Router/Firewall with 10 Mbps, HP 100 Mbps and AppleTalk protocols and a DHCP server.

  • Prepared response to Request for Proposal (RFP) from SaskCulture and was awarded the contract.
  • Clarified expectations with the client. Implementation involved a three-tier solution utilizing existing workstations with Microsoft Access, while incorporating a new backend database (MySQL) and middle-tier web/application server (Apache with C)
